Red Dot Transition Course (8 hours)

This course is designed to introduce the shooter to red dot sight technology. We will start with an explanation of red dots and how they work. We will get your sight mounted correctly if it isn't already, and then make sure it is properly zeroed.

Students will spend some time getting comfortable with presenting the weapon so they can pick up the sight, which can take some getting used to. We will run through numerous drills designed to reinforce sight acquisition and proper sighting techniques.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in some engaging and fun drills to help build solid habits over the course of the afternoon.

About 250 rounds of quality ammunition is required for the training.

Cost: $300 (separate range fee of $25 is paid directly to FRPC for those without a membership).

Gunfighter Academy (3-4 hours)

This fast-paced course is designed to be fun and useful. After a fundamentals review, shooters will get dialed in on paper targets to refine their skills before moving into more dynamic shooting exercises such as steel plate engagements, multiple target drills, vehicle/carjack defense exercises, and timed courses of fire. All ammunition, ear and eye protection, and a t-shirt or hat to remember your experience are included. This course keeps a fast pace and leaves no opportunity for boredom. Students are welcome to use their own weapon if they prefer, and there will be a short time at the end of class to fire other weapons if desired. This class is held at a private location. All you have to do is show up and shoot, and we handle the rest.

Course Details

Firearm Proficiency Program

This program was developed for people who have let their firearm skills lapse or never had an opportunity to develop them to their satisfaction. Many CCW holders do not carry their weapon because they are not comfortable handling and deploying it. This course was designed to make you confident and competent with your weapon so you can be completely responsible for your own safety and that of those around you.

Attendees will meet with a coach once a week for four (4) weeks, covering a multitude of basic skills that will make you proficient with your chosen weapon system. The program starts at the beginning and uses a crawl / walk / run approach so that no one moves into a new skill set without mastering the preceding ones. You will be shocked at how fast you can become proficient and confident with your sidearm with the right structured program.
